United (why are we flying United?) changed our gate without announcing it or leaving a note at the old gate.

The way we found out our United flight's departure gate changed? When no staff was at the counter 40 minutes before departure we checked online.

Apparently the plane at our gate couldn't get their door open for an hour or so and the passengers were trapped on board.
